Maidstone Mela is coming this month!
We are delighted that the much loved Maidstone Mela is happening again this year! The Mela has been taking place in Maidstone since 2003, and is made possible by local partners and volunteers. It is a celebration of multiculturalism across the town, and this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever before. There will be plenty of authentic foods and arts on display, as well as a spectacular line up on stage, including Brazilian Group Lambrego, Dance Asia Bollywood Performers, Chinese Dancing Lions, and much more besides.
Where and When?
The Mela is due to be held in Whatman Park on Sunday 22nd July between 12.30 pm and 6pm. Bursting with colour, music and fun, it is a wonderful family event combining music, dance and food from all over the world.
Whats more, the event is completely free to attend, so you can immerse the whole family in culture for a day.
Highlights from 2017
There were so many great performances and displays last year that it is hard to single any out. The diverse stage performances included the Emeralds Steel Band, Reel Eire Irish Dance, and Dance Asia who performed a Bollywood Fusion. It was headlined by Bhangra Superstar Jassi Sidhu and Jack Shepherd who covered songs by Ed Sheeran. Off stage activities included face painting, creative arts workshops, and plenty of food stalls.
