Beautiful Kent Beaches

We have some wonderful Kent beaches scattered around the south east coastline.

All have something different to offer from quiet rugged terrain to vibrant busy tourist destinations.  We have picked some of our favourites that you may want to visit this year.

Broadstairs

Head towards Broadstairs for a wonderful choice of beaches

Viking Bay –  This large sandy horse shoe shaped beach is right next to the pretty town.  You will discover  quaint cafes and restaurants selling fish and chips and cream teas.  Take your fishing nets and bacon bits with you to catch one of the many crabs that live in the large rock pool.  Take in the expansive sea views from one of the cliff top bars or restaurants.

Joss Bay –  Sheltered by steep cliffs this large sandy beach is always a popular destination with families.

Botany Bay – With its spectacular chalk cliffs and stunning views of the sea, Botany Bay is an ideal location for fossil hunting and exploring rock pools.  The wide sandy beach and natural surroundings make Botany Bay an idyllic place to visit away from the tourist throng.

Arrive on the miniature train from Hythe for a truly memorable day out.  Dymchurch beach has a wide expanse of golden sand that is just perfect for sunbathing.   When you have had enough of the beach there are plenty of places to eat and the children will love spending their 2p’s in the amusement arcades.

Margate

Margate Sands, is over 200 metres of golden soft sand making it a popular tourist beach with children’s rides and beach entertainment.  The promenade is lined with many arcades, fish & chip shops, ice cream and candy floss stalls making it very popular with young and old alike.  Away from the beach visit Dreamland amusement park or for something different the Turner Contemporary Gallery.

Whitstable

Whitstable Beach is a shingle beach backed by fishermen’s huts, many now converted to holiday accommodation.  Away from the beach discover the quaint high street or visit one of the many sea food restaurants in the area.  Try out the local freshly caught oysters that make Whitstable famous.

Sunny Sands Beach is a popular sandy beach located close to the centre of town and the vibrant harbour area.  There has been major development work recently around the harbour and this has giving a real cosmopolitan feel to the area.  Stop off at one of the many international food stalls and cafes that are now abundant in the area.
