With Halloween & Bonfire night out of the way, shops all over the UK have fully embraced the Christmas spirit so we’ve decided to take a look at the best street Christmas markets around the world!
Christmas Markets originated in Germany before the craze went worldwide so it makes sense for Munich to take our number one spot. Munich’s Christmas Markets are in Marienplatz, which is central Munich and cannot be missed. Here you can expect to sample traditional German Christmas toys, Local Liquor and Paper Stars to name but a few! Munich markets starts on the 27th of November and run until the 24th of December.
Also known as “Vienna Magic of Advent” which turns their City Hall into a shining fairy-tale land. Here you can buy Christmas gifts, tree decorations & warm drinks. Vienna Christmas markets are a great place to take the family to as there is Carousel rides and Christmas Workshops for the little ones. Vienna Christmas Markets starts on the 15th November and runs until 26th of December.
Prague, Czech Republic.
The largest and most popular market in Prague is in Old Town Square. In Old Town Square along with the stands offering, local food, drinks and toys there is also a stage that hosts open air concerts and short plays. It begins on the 30th of November and runs until the 5th of January.
New York, USA.
The Bank of America Winter Village located in Bryant Park truly is a Winter Wonderland! There is plenty to do here for all the ages. Storytelling, Santa’s Corner, Ice skating and Holiday shopping. The Winter Village opens its doors on the 31st of October and runs until the 5th of January.
Copenhagen has twelve Christmas Markets throughout the city but the best of all of these in Copenhagen is the Kongens Nytorv market. Located in the heart of the city centre Kongens Nytorv offers loads of sweet treats such as hot chocolate, mulled wine and apple cider to keep you warm whilst shopping! Kongens Nytorv runs from 16th November through to the 22nd of December.
